About the role
About the Company:
Maven Research is a global open talent platform powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning. We connect organizations with professionals who offer on-the-ground perspectives, specialized knowledge, and deep expertise. Through our platform, companies can rapidly source the right talent for needs ranging from brief interviews and targeted surveys to in-depth consulting, long-term advisory roles, employment placement, and market research. By enabling seamless access to the world’s most relevant experts, Maven empowers organizations to make smarter, faster decisions and achieve better outcomes.
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking experienced sales and business development professionals from universal testing machine (UTM) OEMs and distributors with hands-on knowledge of single-column UTM markets and customer dynamics. This role involves sharing your insights on market sizing, pricing strategies, sales volumes, and customer needs—or with potential to inform—our understanding of the UTM market opportunity and emerging trends. Your expertise and Voice of Customer (VoC) feedback will help us understand market demand, identify customer pain points, and assess opportunities for competitive positioning in the single-column UTM segment. This is a flexible consulting engagement that can be completed alongside full-time employment. Time commitment is based entirely on your availability and schedule.
Relevant Experience:
Sales, business development, or account management experience with universal testing machines (UTMs) at OEMs or distributors. Knowledge of single-column UTM markets, particularly systems with 5 kN or lower force capacity. Understanding of UTM pricing, sales volumes, customer segments, and competitive positioning. Familiarity with customer applications, testing requirements, and emerging industry needs. Building and managing customer relationships across manufacturing, quality assurance, research, or materials testing sectors. Collaborating with product, engineering, and leadership teams on market strategy and customer insights. Knowledge of UTM technology specifications, capabilities, and competitive differentiation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Experience in Engineering, Business, Sales, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of relevant sales, business development, or technical sales experience in UTM, materials testing, or industrial equipment markets. Direct experience with UTM OEMs, distributors, or resellers highly valued.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
