About the role

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Stony Brook Medicine is recruiting an on-site, full-time psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Consultation-Liaison (C-L) Psychiatry division to provide patient care and trainee education. The division is well staffed and includes a cohesive team of professionals from psychology, psychiatry, social work and nursing among other disciplines, as well as students and residents from numerous specialty areas. The psychology arm provides clinical assessments and brief, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions (e.g., CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing) for medical and surgical inpatients from across the life-span, presenting with a broad range of clinical conditions. C-L psychology faculty are actively involved in the education of rotating psychology externs, interns and post-doctoral fellows from the Stony Brook University Consortium Training Programs in Clinical Psychology. In addition, there may be opportunities in clinical program development, quality improvement, research, and teaching. Salary is highly competitive, dependent upon credentials and experience. We also offer eligibility for a production incentive bonus, and the full complement of Retirement/NY State Pension offerings as a SUNY employer.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: PhD/PsyD (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program or PCSAS-accredited program. Experience in evidence-based treatment modalities. New York State Clinical Psychologist license or eligibility. Must have passed the EPPP for licensure eligibility and will complete all post-doctoral clinical hours prior to start date. Experience with behavioral medicine and health psychology settings. Experience with risk assessment/management. Experience with providing supervision to psychology trainees.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral training in consultation and liaison psychology. Experience working as part of a Consultation and Liaison team within a hospital-based setting. Clinical Psychology publications in peer reviewed journals.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
