Additional Details: Performs audiological tests necessary for evaluating the degree and nature of hearing loss. Performs comprehensive hearing aid evaluations, fittings and reprogramming. Incorporates follow-up of all (re)habilitation efforts as standard of care Provides audiological patient assessment and individualized treatment plans. Works directly with BBAHC personnel and contract physicians and other interdisciplinary health care staff to identify and reduce the impact of hearing impairment. Provides consultation to regional facilities to ensure follow up treatment, discharge planning, and other services as needed. Maintains records of services provided and testing for good patient service and follow-up. Appropriately refers of patients to other services or agencies in accordance with departmental policiesEMR: Cerner

Certification Requirements: Certificate in Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A) by the American Speech-Language Audiology Association (ASHA) Do not need the cert but it is preferred...American academy of audiology also allowed Relevant Experience/Skill Set Needed:

• Knowledge of assessment and evaluation of hearing disorders and the impact upon communication, health, vocation, socialization for the individual and family.
• Knowledge of appropriate treatment and referral options based on assessment and evaluation of hearing disorders.
• The ability to synthesize knowledge of otologic diseases and the Audiologic evaluation to assist physicians and other professional health staff in proper diagnosis and treatment.
• Knowledge of possible aural rehabilitation procedures to ensure appropriate counseling, referrals and / or therapy to individuals and families.
• Independent practitioner
• Has a broad range of experience with infants, children, geriatrics, etc

State License Requirements: Willing to obtain an AK license (there is a temp license) About the Facility: This facility includes 21 village clinics that are accredited by Joint Commission and are staffed by Community Health aides. Our Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) plays a very important role in village health services. Our health aides can provide Preventative, Acute, Chronic, and Emergency care within their scope of practice using the Community Health Aide Manual (CHAM) and reporting to a referral Physician at the Kanakanak hospital. They work closely with our case management and assist many other departments that include, but not limited to: Optometry, Audiology, Diabetes, Medical Staff, Dental, and Infant learning to ensure our patients are getting the appropriate and essential care that they need.
