About the role

Our client, a fast-growing national waste and recycling services company, is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead its new-business sales organization and drive continued national growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Business Development will lead a team of Business Development Directors and have overall responsibility for new-business revenue, pipeline development, sales execution, forecasting, and achievement of annual growth objectives. This is a sales leadership and coaching role for an accomplished business development executive who knows how to build, develop, and motivate high-performing sales professionals. The VP will establish clear goals and expectations, provide hands-on coaching throughout the sales cycle, maintain rigorous pipeline discipline, and ensure the team consistently advances and closes qualified opportunities. The VP will be highly engaged in significant opportunities, providing strategy, coaching, executive-level support, and deal leadership as needed. This individual will help the team build credibility with senior decision-makers, strengthen the company's value proposition, and effectively position its waste and recycling solutions with regional, national, and multi-location businesses. Working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, the VP will also partner cross-functionally to ensure pricing, proposals, contracts, and new-customer transitions support profitable and sustainable growth.
Qualifications: 12+ years of experience in business to business accounts ranging in size from small to enterprise or national account sales, business development, or sales leadership, including direct new business hunting experience 5+ years of experience leading, coaching, and managing a direct sales team, including setting quotas and managing performance Demonstrated, consistent track record of generating net-new pipeline and attaining or exceeding revenue quota at scale Experience owning a full sales cycle, from prospecting through contract negotiation and close, for small, national or multi-location accounts Experience responding to and winning competitive RFPs, including pricing strategy and finalist presentations Proficiency with CRM systems (Hub Spot preferred) and disciplined pipeline management and forecasting Strong executive presence; ability to present pipeline health and revenue results to the CEO, Wasteology leadership, and board Excellent presentation, negotiation, and executive-level communication skills Financial and business acumen: comfortable with contract economics, pricing structures, and margin awareness Highly organized with strong follow-through, able to operate with autonomy in a growth-stage environment Willingness to travel for industry events, client meetings, and finalist presentations
