About the role
- Partner with leadership to improve agency operations, financial performance, resource planning, workflows, and overall efficiency
- Monitor project budgets, staffing, utilization, burn rates, profitability, forecasts, WIP, un-billed work, and billing alignment with scopes and budgets
- Identify project risks, scope changes, cost overruns, billing concerns, and opportunities to improve project performance
- Develop reporting and dashboards that help leadership and teams make better decisions
- Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, monthly close, reconciliations, general ledger accuracy, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, management reporting, and internal controls
- Manage client billing, accounts receivable, collections, payroll, benefits administration, insurance renewals, employee records, onboarding, and offboarding
- Serve as the primary financial administrator for agency management, ERP, or accounting systems while supporting system improvements and accurate reporting
- Supervise and support an accounting team member while strengthening processes, accountability, and financial controls
- 5+ years of experience in operations, finance, business operations, project accounting, or a related role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong understanding of project budgets, scopes, staffing, utilization, billing, forecasting, and profitability
- Background working in a small to mid-sized project-driven environment
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and month-end close
- Ability to turn financial and operational data into practical recommendations for leadership and internal teams
- Experience improving workflows, systems, processes, reporting, and controls
- Experience supporting client billing, project profitability, agency operations, or resource planning
- Experience in an advertising agency, marketing agency, professional services firm, or project-based business
