Duties and Responsibilities: This is a highly responsible position within the Bureau of Dealer Services. This position investigates consumer complaints filed against mobile home, recreational vehicle and motor vehicle dealers/dealerships and is responsible for preparing administrative cases. Additionally, this position conducts record inspections of franchised and independent motor vehicles, mobile homes, and recreational dealers. Compliance Examiners assist existing and prospective dealers with the licensing process and inspect all initial dealer locations within an assigned territory. The incumbent enforces laws related to titles, registrations, and liens with Florida licensed dealers and verifies vehicle identification numbers. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel. Skill in providing excellent customer service. Ability to work with varying customers in stressful situations. Skill in communicating effectively and efficiently, in a tactful and courteous manner. Skill in collecting and reviewing data. Skill in performing investigative work. Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skill in preparing accurate and complete written reports. Skill evaluating applications for licensure and permits. Skill preparing correspondence. Ability to follow money handling procedures; handle cash; add total and provide change currently. Skill in recording information and maintaining tracking logs. Knowledge of automotive parts and repairs.
Preferred Qualifications: One year or more of experience providing excellent customer service in a professional/business setting including working with varying customers in stressful situations. Experience working in an automotive shop, automotive retail store, or similar role with knowledge of automotive parts and repairs. Conducting investigative work and/or performing investigative interviews. Understanding, interpreting, and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Composing, drafting, and preparing professional correspondence such as letters, memos, emails and reports using Microsoft Word and/or Excel. Evaluating information/applications to determine eligibility for a license or certification. Using Florida Real-Time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS user). Cash handling and/or collecting payments. Recorded information and maintained tracking logs using Microsoft Excel and/or Word. Working in a field related to law enforcement, regulatory program, and/or driver licenses/Tax Collector’s office. Providing consultative services (reviewing info and providing expert advice.) Job Related Requirements The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged. This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment. Out-of-town travel and occasional overtime may be required (including Saturday and Sunday). Incumbents will be required to wear a division uniform. General Information The state of Florida hires only U.S. citizens and lawfully authorized alien workers. Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI. In accordance with Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, male applicants who were required to register with the Selective Service System must provide proof of registration or documentation verifying exemption status during the hiring process. The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview. FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
