This role provides fantastic growth opportunities and is perfect for acurrent accounting manager that has an eye on controllership in the future, ORan experienced Senior Accountant looking to gain their first manager level experience. This firm is a lower middle market manufacturer in a unique space and set of products. The team is small and mighty, and we are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of financial accounting and consolidated financial statement preperation who is eager to learn and grow.
SUMMARY: Responsible for financial reporting including developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely tracking of financial data. Will oversee day to day accounting and finance functions. Responsible to assist with accounting and operational related tasks which, at times, will include human resources (HR).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timelydissemination of financial reports for internal and external parties. Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Maintain proper accounting analyses and reconciliations for verification of account balances in the general ledger. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledgerstructure including project accounting. Provided analysis and reports to management and assist with process improvement. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and other financial reports. Research and provide recommendation on the handling of non-routine accountingtransactions. Oversee the activities of accounts payable, billing and collection activities. Ensure efficient order to cash processing and controlled disbursement processing. Coordinate annual audits and tax return preparation with external accounting firm. Accounting and reporting for government programs (i.e. grants and loans).Assist with preparation of annual budgets. Supervise assigned employees to include performance management andtraining/mentoring.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with members of management on special projects, process improvement initiatives, new software / application initiatives. Various HR tasks including: payroll processing, 401(k) plan management, benefitsmanagement. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field).At least 3 years of experience in general accounting / finance functions. A solid demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts and standards.
