About the role
Description:
Design, develop, and implement cost-effective expendable and returnable packaging solutions for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and service parts. Translate customer, product, quality, manufacturing, and transportation requirements into packaging specifications and logistics plans. Create packaging concepts, layouts, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, and related technical documentation. Perform packaging validation, load testing, transportation trials, and risk assessments to confirm product protection, ergonomics, safety, and regulatory compliance. Develop and maintain packaging standards, pack quantities, labeling requirements, and a Plan for Every Part (PFEP). Optimize material flow, storage locations, line-side presentation, dock activity, warehouse space, and internal transportation routes. Analyze freight, packaging, handling, inventory, and labor costs; lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives. Collaborate with customers, suppliers, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Program Management, and Production Control from concept through launch and steady-state production. Support new product launches by defining packaging, transportation, inventory, and material-handling requirements. Support production and shipping troubleshooting, containment actions, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to packaging damage, shortages, labeling, or material flow. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering (required) Experience Experience working with customers, suppliers, carriers, and cross-functional teams.
Experience supporting new product launches and production environments.
Prior experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, automotive, or another high-volume industrial environment is preferred.
