Responsible for selling company products and services via either inbound or outbound calls and/or face-to-face counter sales at the branch location. Coordinates in-house order filling activity and Route Salesperson(s)' delivery activity to achieve the Company's objective of excellent customer service. Essential Job Duties Generate revenue by promoting sales of new and existing products. Initiate sales calls to existing customers to assess the need for replenishing inventories. Assist "walk-in" customers with sales of products and/or services, and respond to questions regarding parts, pricing, services, etc. Prospect and develop relationships with potential customers, or leads, to cultivate new business. Provide ongoing customer and technical service on existing accounts. Process orders - performs order entry, and reviews orders for correct handling, pricing, quantities, and shipping data. Inform the customer of unit prices, shipping dates, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by the customer. May directly receive and process payment from walk-in customers. Advise customer on substitution or modification of part when part requested is not available. Dispatch delivery of orders, as necessary to comply with customer requests. Assist with the "check-in" and "check-out" process of Route Salespeople. Observe inventory changes to ensure minimum stock levels. Set up special order part numbers that are not regularly stocked in the warehouse. Coordinate with the warehouse department to pull product(s) for the customer. Mix paint as required. Follow all safety company policies for the required use of Personal Protective Equipment. Assume other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Not responsible for supervising employees. Minimum RequirementsEducation & Experience 1+ years' experience in telephone sales, customer service relations, and/or route sales required. Preferred Requirements High School Diploma/GED Prior automotive experience and knowledge of automotive parts preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs. Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain, and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and PowerPoint presentations to support business objectives. Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others, and make presentations to department or middle management. Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive, and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures. Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area. Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction. Handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity. Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
