The Company: Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stratus Materials is an early-stage, technology-based company focused on the development and manufacture of advanced active materials for the lithium-ion battery industry. Our primary focus is on advanced electric vehicle batteries, but our materials will also be applicable and very attractive for many other end-user applications using lithium-ion batteries. In late 2025, the company secured a substantial Series B round of financing and is using those funds to execute on its business plans. Summary of Position: The Electromechanical Technician position will be instrumental in maintaining, modifying, and creating process and materials production assets including equipment and test stations. This role is a combination of theoretical and applied technical work whose fields include electrical, mechanical, computer, and general technical knowledge. This role will work closely with company engineers and interface with material scientists, data scientists, operations personnel, and other process engineering and quality personnel to produce world class energy storage materials.
Responsibilities: ? Serve as key point person for critical pre-pilot and pilot scale facilities, equipment stand- up, maintenance, and modification. ? Conducting, monitoring, and documenting tests of products developed. ? Maintaining test systems and lab areas. ? Following standard operating procedures as well as modifying, creating, and/or documenting them for equipment. ? Resolving problems, roadblocks, or malfunctions that impact operations performance. ? Cross functionally working with other technicians, engineers, and scientists to assist in day-to-day operations and/or help resolve technical problems that may arise. ? Ensure a safe working environment
Requirements: Education, Experience, and Skills: ? 2-5 years relevant industry experience ? Practices high levels of mechanical safety and EHS-compliance in work ? Deep experience and/or a technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related fields ? Good verbal, written, computer and organizational skills. ? Proficient with MS and Google office business toolsets ? Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a continuously changing environment ? Experience with mechanical and electrical equipment. ? Good understanding of electrical and mechanical principles Additional Preferences: ? Experience with start-up or early-stage companies is a plus ? Interest in battery technology
Requirements: Geographic and Physical: ? Located in Pittsburgh, PA or open to relocation. ? Able to frequently move about an office and factory floor. ? Occasional light lifting and ascending/descending stairs. ?
