About the role

Our client is an established private credit firm that has scaled significantly in recent years while maintaining a collaborative, tight-knit culture. As the business continues to expand, they are looking to hire an experienced Director of Payroll to take ownership of payroll across a growing employee population. This is a hands-on, highly autonomous role overseeing a complex, multi-state payroll environment. You'll remain close to the day-to-day process while taking ownership of payroll processing and controls, tax and compliance matters, vendor management, employee inquiries, and related benefits administration. A major focus will also be on process improvement and automation. As the firm continues to grow, this person will have the opportunity to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and help build a more scalable payroll function. What They're Looking For 8+ years of US payroll experience, ideally within the financial services industry Experience managing multi-state payroll within a complex, fast-paced organization Strong knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax and compliance requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to operate independently while partnering across HR, Finance and the broader business
