About the role
Hardside SalesD&B Team Emmett is hiring for Hardside Sales in our main building as well as our Power Shop building. Both positions share the following essential functions/duties while the Power Shop position lists additional duties. Provide direct customer service and support by selling merchandise on the sales floor and assisting in customer carry-outs, stocking and restocking of merchandise. This position focuses in the areas of automotive, electrical, plumbing, housewares, power equipment, AG, etc.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Sell merchandise and advise customers on merchandise price and features face to face and over the phone.
Demonstrate product features, functions and accessories.
Provide merchandise/product knowledge to customers and recommend alternative or accessory goods.
Responsible for receiving and displaying merchandise in accordance with specific established policies, procedures and standards. Accountable for department inventory.
Perform general floor maintenance and housekeeping; monitor and maintain the condition and safekeeping of inventory and merchandise.
Advise and assist customers in ordering specialized merchandise as needed.
Provide assistance in receiving and display merchandise in accordance with specific established policies, procedures and standards.
Prepare and participate with inventory cycle activities.
Move material using appropriate material handling tools and equipment including but not limited to: by hand, hand truck, pallet-jack, dolly, and/or operation of forklifts or other vehicles.
Other duties as assigned by management related to customer service, merchandising, and handling of products.
Power Shop: This position focuses in the areas of Power Equipment and Tools. Candidates with previous Power Equipment (STIHL, power washers, generators, etc.) sales experience are highly preferred. Other areas include automotive, electrical, plumbing, housewares, AG, HHT stoves, smoker grills, etc.
Knowledge of Power Equipment (STIHL, power washers, generators, lawncare tools, etc.) experience preferred, not required.
Answer routine customer inquiries including rental shop inquiries.
Generate and follow up on sales leads.
Utilize sales order system when ordering stove merchandise.
Compile/gather detailed information regarding stove inquiries from customers.
Travel to and work D&B Supply's booth at trade events, State and County Fairs as D&B's representative (when needed).
Required Skills/Experience:
Must have knowledge of retail floor sales techniques. Ability to build strong customer relationships and follow through. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Computer skills required. Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers. Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues. Ability to work as part of a team. Exposure to visual merchandising and product placement techniques is desired.
Required Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED is preferred, not required.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to work majority of shift standing and be able to lift up to 75 pounds to move merchandise; be able to climb, reach, bend, stoop and crawl. Must be able to physically participate in resets, remodels and reconstruction projects.
