About the role
- Provides physical support across the Elliot Health System (EHS) for any manual tasks pertaining to hazardous waste, including but not limited to collecting, sorting, packaging and shipping
- Attends annual training and acts as a back-up HW Coordinator as defined by regulatory requirements.
- Conducts scheduled frequency audits on storage of hazardous materials and waste.
- Conducts general hazard surveillance rounds, as assigned.
- Attends Hazardous Materials and Waste Sub-committee.
- Attends all activities related to and provides physical support to DECON team; keeps all requirements up to date to be a member of the team
- Acts as back-up EHS HW Coordinator as defined by state of NH requirements.
- Completes and documents assigned environmental audits.
- Complete scheduled and ad-hoc sharps collection throughout hospital and Rivers Edge locations.
- Completes scheduled collection of non-hazardous and hazardous pharmaceutical waste.
- Completes scheduled compressed gas cylinder distribution rounds at hospital and Rivers Edge locations.
- Completes ad-hoc lab and pharmacy hazardous waste removal; provides back-up collection preparation for shipping.
- Audits and packages universal waste for picking up per regulatory requirements.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Two (2) plus years of experience in Environmental related field in healthcare or similar environment preferred.
- Valid NH Driver's License required
- Knowledgeable in infection Control Principles Bloodborne Pathogens Chemical Safety required
- Basic computer knowledge for data entry required
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, provide superb customer service to all departments, and the ability to multitask
