Queens, NY4 position in Corona 7 positions in Long Island City Home/Life Services Inc. established in 1995, is a community-based, human servicesorganization committed to improving the economic and social health of families impactedby homelessness. Operating from a client centered perspective, Home/Life provides a safe andtherapeutic environment that supports the social and economic independence of its familiesserved. By developing and implementing innovative services and programs within our Families with Children’s facilities, we provide case management and job counseling, aswell as help our families access the economic housing support that allows them to enter andstay in permanent housing. Under the direction of the Social Services Director, The Residential Aide developsmeaning and trusting relationships with clients. The Residential Aide coordinates client’saccess to support resources in order maximize their potential and aid in theirindependence for their re-integration into the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of the Residential Aide include but not limited to: Administrative: Assists with scanning client files into the Network Attached Storage (NAS) upon client’s departingfrom shelter Programmatic Achievement:• Assists with escorting clients to support service appointments• Assists the Social Services Department and other facility personnel as requested.• Collaborates with the social services department to use empowerment and recovery-orientedapproaches with clients and groups.• Inspects rooms for cleanliness before clients enter the facility• Must bag and tag clients’ belongings when left behind or assist if client is physicallyhandicapped and requires assistance• Report all inconsistencies with food deliveries to the appropriate operation supervisor andprogram director• Adhere to the dress code policy for uniformed personnel and maintain a clean, neat, andprofessional appearance at all times• In the event of an emergency, Essential Personnel are required to report to work as scheduled Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based upon assessment of company needsSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS• High School diploma or equivalent required• Experience with behavioral health services preferred• Must be able to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)• Must have a valid food handler certificate• Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a part of a team• Must be organized and technologically savvy• Bilingual English/Spanish is also preferred
