Job Description: We are looking for a reliable, experienced Tractor-Trailer Mechanic / Trailer Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM), diagnostic troubleshooting, electrical and brake repairs, and DOT inspections on commercial semi-trailers and heavy-duty fleets to keep our equipment safe and compliant.
Key Responsibilities: Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, suspension, and air brake systems on dry vans, flatbeds, and utility trailers. Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and official Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections. Complete structural, frame, body, and panel repairs, including light welding and metal fabrication. Troubleshoot lighting systems, wiring harnesses, and liftgates. Accurately document all repairs, labor hours, and parts used in the company maintenance/work order system. Maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA/DOT-compliant work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience as a tractor-trailer mechanic, trailer technician, or diesel fleet mechanic.
Tools: Must possess and supply a standard set of personal hand tools required for the trade. Knowledge: Strong understanding of air brake systems, hydraulic systems, 12V electrical troubleshooting, and DOT regulations.
Certifications: (Preferred): ASE certifications (such as T4 Brakes, T5 Suspension, T6 Electrical, or T8 PMI) or OEM training.
License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL or ability to obtain a DOT medical card is a plus).Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy components, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods in a shop or mobile environment.
