Position Description:
The Job Coach works directly with students with special needs at various job sites and provides on the job training and feedback; also works closely with employers at various community/job sites. May require lifting and/or restraints.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the implementation of the Windham Public Schools Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations and directivesFollow Windham Public school policy to ensure student safetyFollow teacher's oral or written directions with accuracyAssist the teacher with documentation of student progressEncourage students to interact appropriately with peersAssist students during recess, breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, on school buses and field tripsMaintain respect at all times for confidential informationKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Experience working with young childrenAbility to implement behavioral goalsAbility to understand child developmentAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writingEffective, active listening skillsAbility to work effectively with othersOrganizational and problem solving skillsQUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalencyBachelor's DegreeSuccessful experience in the positionTwo (2) years of experience working with children or young adults in a school setting, preferredExperience working with students with special needsAbility to communicate in Spanish preferred, not requiredSalary: In accordance with WFEP Bargaining Unit.
