Telecom Installer - Fiber & Low Voltage Career Growth

What You'll Do: Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling Install and mount racks, cabinets, patch panels, switches, and other network equipment Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and installation plans Troubleshoot connectivity and system issues and perform necessary repairs and upgrades Perform telecommunications installation and service work in commercial, residential, and data center environments Follow all applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulations Maintain accurate records of installations, testing, inspections, maintenance, and service activities Communicate professionally with clients, project managers, technicians, and other team members Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively Work on ladders and at elevated heights when required Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and professionalism on every jobsite

What We're Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is preferred 2-5 years of hands-on experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, telecommunications, or a related field Strong understanding of cabling, signal transmission, and network infrastructure Experience installing and troubleshooting both copper and fiber optic cabling Knowledge of structured cabling standards and network infrastructure practices Ability to read and interpret technical documents, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics Proficiency with common hand tools and power tools Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Professional communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to lift and handle telecommunications equipment Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in commercial environments, high-rise buildings, and new construction Previous customer-facing field service experienceBICSI, FOA, or manufacturer-specific certifications or training Additional experience with fiber testing, termination, and troubleshooting Work Environment &

Physical Requirements: This position may require work in: Commercial buildings Data centers Residential properties High-rise buildings New construction sites Technicians must be comfortable working in confined spaces, elevated work areas, and on ladders, while safely using hand and power tools and handling telecommunications equipment.
