About the role

Senior Systems Engineer Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney's media business globally. The team marries technology with creativity to build world-class products, enhance storytelling, and drive velocity, innovation, and scalability for our businesses. We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company's media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world. Join Core Infrastructure as a Senior (P3) Systems Engineer focused on building, automating, and operating our storage platforms — including large-scale, multi-protocol NFS and S3 object storage systems that support origin and content delivery — across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments. You'll implement approved designs and standards, automate day-to-day storage operations, keep services healthy and secure, and contribute to incident response and continuous improvement, partnering with P4/P5 engineers on more complex initiatives.
Responsibilities: Provision & operate storage platforms across block/file/object storage — including large-scale, multiprotocol NFS and S3 object storage systems supporting origin and content delivery — following reference architectures and change procedures. Automate common workflows (provisioning, configuration, compliance, backups) using IaC and scripting (e.g., Terraform/Ansible/PowerShell/Bash); maintain runbooks and SOPs. Monitor & troubleshoot: build actionable alerts/dashboards, investigate storage performance and capacity issues, and execute remediation to keep SLOs green and support our goal of 5 9's availability. Patch & secure platforms: execute patch plans, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediations in partnership with security; document and verify results. Incident response: participate in the on-call rotation, restore service quickly, capture post-incident notes, and implement durable fixes per standards. Lifecycle & hygiene: decommission legacy storage systems, right-size capacity, enforce backups/replication and data lifecycle/tiering policies, and keep inventories/documentation current. Partnering: work with compute, network, identity, and product/SRE teams to ensure clean integrations and reliable change execution, including support for VMware, Kubernetes, and other distributed systems that depend on storage services. Scope: Executes well defined designs; owns discrete components and tasks; raises risks early. Craft: Delivers reliable, well-documented automation and changes; improves runbooks and Day 2 operations for storage services. Collaboration: Communicates status clearly; seeks reviews; learns from P4/P5 mentors and applies feedback. Reliability mindset: Favors automation, testing, and progressive rollouts; documents what you build so others can reuse.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.5+ years in systems/platform operations with a focus on storage (block/file/object), supporting production workloads. Hands-on experience with large-scale, multiprotocol storage systems (SAN/NAS/NFS and S3-compatible object storage).Working knowledge of VMware/Hyper-V/KVM and Kubernetes/container runtimes as consumers of storage services. Scripting or IaC (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash) to automate repetitive storage tasks. Solid Linux fundamentals and familiarity with networking basics (DNS, load balancing, TLS, IP/routing).Comfort with 24×7 operations concepts and change/incident processes (runbooks, CAB, RCAs).
Preferred Qualifications: Observability tooling (metrics/logs/traces), capacity/performance tuning, and cost/tiering practices for storage platforms. Backup/DR execution (snapshots, replication, restore testing) and data lifecycle management. Exposure to large-scale storage migrations and modernization initiatives. Exposure to identity/RBAC and secrets management within infra platforms. Experience contributing to standardization (e.g., modules, golden images, cluster profiles) under senior guidance.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
