We are a privately held company known for our collaborative culture, technical excellence, and commitment to doing things the right way.We're growing—and we're looking for a Director of Project Management who can strengthen project execution, develop our project management team, and help Holmberg continue delivering exceptional results for our clients.What You'll DoAs our Director of Project Management, you'll provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for Holmberg's project management function.You'll lead and develop project management staff, establish consistent project controls, and partner with estimating, sales, engineering, field operations, and executive leadership to deliver projects safely, profitably, and to the highest standard.ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, mentor, and hold accountable project managers and project support staff.Establish and maintain consistent project management standards, tools, reporting practices, and performance expectations across the company.Oversee the project portfolio and monitor financial performance, schedule, staffing, risk, quality, and client satisfaction.Review project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, cash flow, billings, change orders, and closeout performance; intervene early when corrective action is needed.Ensure smooth handoffs from sales and estimating through project kickoff, execution, commissioning, and final closeout.Partner with field leadership to align manpower plans, procurement, fabrication, subcontractors, and project schedules.Provide executive-level support and direction on high-risk, high-value, or complex mechanical construction projects.Promote strong contract administration, including scope review, notices, documentation, change management, and claims avoidance.Build and maintain trusted relationships with owners, general contractors, design partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.Support project pursuits, interviews, proposal strategy, estimating reviews, and go/no-go decisions.Support recruitment, onboarding, development, performance management, succession planning, and retention of project management staff.Use project and company data to identify trends, improve forecasting, share lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement.Promote the practical use of emerging technology, including AI and modern project management tools, to improve efficiency and decision-making.Reinforce Holmberg's expectations for safety, ethics, accountability, teamwork, and exceptional client service.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field; equivalent senior-level industry experience may be considered.8+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction, including leadership responsibility for teams and multiple concurrent projects.Strong knowledge of mechanical construction project delivery, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, fabrication, and field coordination.Demonstrated experience with project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, scheduling, estimating, procurement, subcontractor management, and contract administration.Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop project management professionals while setting clear expectations and accountability.Strong business judgment, financial acumen, problem-solving ability, and understanding of project risk.Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and client relationship skills.Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Preferred QualificationsWe'd love to see experience with:Leadership within a mechanical contractor, MEP firm, engineering organization, or technical construction services environment.Design-Build, Design-Assist, Progressive Design-Build, MCCM, and Design-Bid-Build delivery methods.Large, technically complex projects in commercial, healthcare, life sciences, industrial, institutional, or public-sector markets.Project management software, construction financial systems, scheduling tools, BIM/VDC coordination, and data-driven reporting.Organizational growth, process improvement, change leadership, and succession planning.PMP, CCM, DBIA, LEED, or other relevant professional certification.Why Holmberg Mechanical?At Holmberg, you'll find more than just a job—you'll find a team that genuinely enjoys working together.We believe in:Working hard while enjoying what we do.Building lasting relationships with clients and teammates.Empowering employees to make decisions and take ownership.Investing in professional growth and career development.Delivering exceptional projects we're proud to put our name on.Our culture is built on trust, teamwork, accountability, and having fun along the way.What We OfferCompetitive salary: $180,000–$250,000 DOE.100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) with company match.Generous PTO package.Paid holidays.Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.Professional development and continuing education.Equal Opportunity:Holmberg Mechanical is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
