Fire Recruit: $18.74 per hourFirefighter: $20.67 per hourFirefighter–Paramedic: $22.78 per hour Experienced Certified Firefighters: Experience-based pay placement available Firefighter Selection Process Applications will be reviewed to confirm that minimum qualifications have been met. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in: A written examination administered by the City of Alabaster Human Resources Department A physical abilities test administered by the Alabaster Fire Department A panel interview with representatives of the Alabaster Fire Department and Human Resources Candidates must successfully complete each required phase to advance in the selection process. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or GEDPossess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license
- Obtain and maintain certification as a Firefighter I and II through the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission within one year of employment
- Obtain and maintain an Alabama Department of Public Health, Office of EMS, Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic license within three years of employment
