Venture Search is partnered with an leading proprietary trading firm looking for an experienced trader for their US Rates business. The successful candidate will focus on trading and managing risk across the US interest-rate swaps (IRS) market, working closely with the existing derivatives team. They are looking for someone with significant experience in IRS markets, a consistent and methodical approach to trading, and a strong understanding of risk. The role requires the ability to assess market opportunities effectively while maintaining disciplined risk management across positions.
The Role: Apply expertise in US rates markets to identify and manage trading opportunities while maintaining disciplined risk controls. Build, enhance, and maintain analytical and quantitative tools used to evaluate and improve trading strategies. Support the development of automated trading capabilities, including electronic execution, pricing models, and systematic hedging processes. Work closely with other members of the trading team to exchange market views, analyze performance, and improve trading approaches. Provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team.
Qualifications: At least 5 years of professional experience trading interest-rate derivatives within a proprietary trading environment. A proven history of generating trading returns while managing risk effectively. Strong knowledge of interest-rate swap valuation, market dynamics, and associated risk measures. Good understanding of the current interest-rate benchmark environment, including SOFR, €STR, SONIA, and related basis products. Experience with both centrally cleared and bilateral derivatives, including margining, execution venues, and post-trade processes. Comfortable working with electronic trading platforms, risk-management systems, and related technology. Strong numerical and analytical ability, with the capacity to make timely decisions in fast-moving markets. Clear communication skills and an ability to work effectively with traders, clients, and other stakeholders. Collaborative, motivated, and dependable approach to working in a trading environment.
