About the role
Sr. Global Solutions EngineerThis is a high-impact, customer-facing technical leadership role supporting Digital Realty's largest and most strategic customers. You will own the technical relationship across the full lifecycle of an opportunity from discovery and solution design through contracting and deployment acting as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams.You'll play a critical role in driving customer success by translating business and technical requirements into engineered solutions, ensuring opportunities progress smoothly while delivering a best-in-class customer experience.What you'll do:Lead technical engagement with customers, including site tours, sales calls, solution design, pricing support, and contract negotiationsAct as the central hub for technical and engineering communications across internal and external stakeholdersDiscover and evaluate customer requirements, designing fit-for-purpose data center solutionsEngineer and cost solutions for large, complex customer opportunitiesOwn and complete technical responses for RFIs, RFPs, and RFQsServe as a subject matter expert on data center infrastructure, building systems, and white-space fit-outsPartner with Design & Construction, Operations, Implementation, and Portfolio teams to support project deliverySupport technical account planning, pipeline reviews, and sales forecastingRepresent Digital Realty at industry events and technical forumsMonitor industry trends and provide insights to support strategic customer accountsWhat You'll Need:Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical fieldHands-on, in-field experience in the data center industry supporting infrastructure such as: Electrical / power systems or Mechanical / cooling systemsPre-sales experience is required (Sales Engineering / Solutions Engineering preferred) Does not need to be a quota-carrying salesperson Must be comfortable working closely with sales teams and engaging directly with customers in a client-facing, pre-sales capacity5+ years with a data center or colocation provider OR 8+ years in a related field (telecom, networking, engineering consulting, mission-critical facilities)Proven ability to engage directly with customers and translate requirements into technical solutionsStrong cross-functional collaboration across engineering, construction, operations, and commercial teamsTechnical expertise in at least one area: networking, electrical systems, cooling systems, monitoring & controls, or mission-critical infrastructureExperience supporting technical sales cycles and managing customer opportunitiesStrong communication and presentation skills, including engagement with senior stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsProficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe AcrobatA bit about our team:Technology & InnovationOur Technology & Innovation team strives to innovate alongside our customers and empower their businesses to thrive. Central to our compensation philosophy is rewarding our employees for achieving the values and objectives aligned to the company's overall goals and values.Our published pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and geographical location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. Moreover, an employee's total compensation package varies by role and may include salary, cash bonus or commissions, and equity awards not quantified below.Compensation range: 160K - 180K.
