Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Position Overview: Actalent is seeking an EHS Specialist to support the development and execution of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe working conditions, regulatory compliance, and proactive risk mitigation across operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, hands‑on EHS experience, and a collaborative approach to driving safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities: Workplace Investigations — Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards. EHS Awareness — Promote EHS awareness through effective communication and employee engagement. Safety & Environmental Point of Contact — Serve as a key contact for safety and environmental issues. Regulated Waste Management — Support waste consolidation, inspections, and compliance activities. Compliance Tasks — Conduct stormwater sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits. Regulatory Compliance — Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements. EHS Audits — Support and conduct audits, develop action plans, and implement corrective measures. Risk Assessments — Perform Job Hazard Analyses for new processes and equipment. Metrics & Reporting — Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly EHS metrics for management and corporate reporting. Corporate & Legal Compliance — Support management efforts to ensure compliance with corporate programs and federal/state laws. Ergonomic Risk Mitigation — Recommend appropriate ergonomic risk‑reduction measures. Safety Committee Leadership — Establish and manage the site safety committee.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field; or equivalent experience.1+ years of EHS support experience, preferably in manufacturing or warehousing environments. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting. Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues. Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as needed. Ability to work 40 hours/week and travel between warehouse locations throughout the Puget Sound region.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, NEBOSH, CIH, or CHMM.Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer‑focus skills. Experience leading teams and conducting job hazard/safety analyses for new processes and machinery. Experience in emergency response; current First Aid and CPR certifications. Experience with workers’ compensation case management. Experience supporting compliance with CAA, RCRA, CWA, and other environmental regulations. Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels and disciplines; receptive to feedback and quick to implement improvements.
