What You'll Do:
You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of diesel trucks and heavy equipment that keeps our operations moving safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
Diagnose and repair diesel engines and major vehicle systems Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and air systems Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs)Rebuild and replace major components Utilize computer diagnostics to identify and resolve issues Complete maintenance records and work orders using fleet software Conduct vehicle safety inspections Respond to equipment breakdowns and service calls Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant shop Follow all company safety standards and procedures
Qualifications:
Required 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience Computer diagnostic experience Experience repairing heavy-duty trucks and equipment Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Commitment to safety and quality workmanship Preferred Waste industry experience Heavy equipment / "yellow iron" experience Trade school certification or technical training Experience maintaining refuse trucks, roll-offs, and heavy fleet equipment About Interstate Waste Services Interstate Waste Services is one of the most progressive and innovative waste collection, recycling, and environmental services companies in the region, serving customers throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Ohio.
