About the Role:
We are partnering with a highly respected power delivery consulting firm supporting utilities, renewable developers, and infrastructure clients across North America. They are looking for an Electrical Engineer / Project Engineer with 3â5 years of substation experience who wants to deepen their technical expertise and grow toward a Lead Substation Engineer role. You will work alongside experienced engineers designing and delivering high-voltage substation infrastructure projects, gaining exposure to consulting engineering, client coordination, and complex power system projects. This role offers strong mentorship, meaningful technical responsibility, and a clear path toward technical leadership. What Youâll Work OnYou will support engineering and design for high-voltage substations including:⢠Substation yard layouts and equipment arrangement⢠Grounding system design and lightning protection⢠Conduit and cable routing⢠General arrangement drawings and elevations⢠Control building and auxiliary AC/DC systems⢠Equipment specifications and bill of materials You will also support Protection & Controls engineering, including:⢠One-line and three-line diagrams⢠Relay panel arrangements⢠AC/DC schematics⢠Control wiring diagrams Engineering Responsibilities⢠Support substation design and engineering deliverables⢠Prepare engineering calculations and studies Grounding analysis Lightning protectionAC/DC load studies⢠Develop equipment specifications and material lists⢠Coordinate design with civil, structural, transmission, and protection teams⢠Support drawing review, vendor coordination, and engineering QA⢠Participate in project meetings and client discussions⢠Contribute to project scopes, schedules, and technical documentation Required Experience⢠Bachelorâs Degree in Electrical Engineering⢠3â5 years of experience in substation engineering or power delivery⢠Experience supporting substation design deliverables, such as: One-line diagrams General arrangements Grounding layouts Conduit and cable plans Control schematics Material lists⢠Familiarity with high-voltage substations (12kVâ500kV)⢠Ability to work in a consulting engineering environment⢠Strong communication and collaboration skills Preferred (Not Required)⢠EIT certification or working toward PE⢠Experience with tools such as: AutoCADMicro StationETAPSKMEasy Power⢠Familiarity with IEEE, NESC, or utility standards
