About the role
- Conduct initial assessments with Spanish-speaking seniors and families to understand care needs
- Translate between English-speaking staff and Spanish-speaking clients during medical and benefits conversations
- Help clients enroll in Medi-Cal, IHSS, hospice, Medicare Savings Programs, and other benefits
- Accompany clients to medical appointments and benefits offices as interpreter and advocate
- Document interactions in our case-management system and follow up on open issues
- Build trust with Spanish-speaking communities through outreach at churches, community centers, and senior housing
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish AND English (oral and written)
- Experience working with elderly populations, healthcare systems, or social services
- Cultural competency with Latinx, Hispanic, and immigrant senior communities in LAStrong empathy, patience, and ability to explain complex topics in plain language
- High school diploma; bachelor's in social work, public health, or related preferred
