About the role
We are seeking an experiencedParachute Engineerto join an innovative aerospace and defense manufacturing organization focused on the design, testing, and production of advanced parachute systems and recovery solutions.
This is a highly visible engineering role where you will take ownership of parachute and decelerator system projects from concept through production. The ideal candidate has hands‑on parachute design experience, strong technical expertise, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of parachute and decelerator systems.
Serve as the responsible engineer for a variety of parachute systems and associated hardware.
Collaborate directly with customers to define requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
Support the design and testing of parachute deployment systems and recovery mechanisms.
Plan, organize, and execute drop tests and related validation activities.
Analyze test data and implement design improvements.
Support development of parachute‑adjacent hardware, mechanical systems, and deployment mechanisms.
Create and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 5 years of professional engineering design experience.
Minimum 3 years of direct parachute design experience with significant project ownership.
Demonstrated ability to independently design and develop parachute systems.
Experience planning and executing parachute drop tests.
Hands‑on sewing experience related to parachute fabrication and development.
Rigging experience.
Proficiency with CAD software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
United States Parachute Association (USPA) A-License or higher.
Experience with heavy cargo airdrop systems.
Aerospace, defense, military, or advanced manufacturing industry experience.
