About the role
Waccamaw Transport delivers fuel to retail and commercial customers across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. We're a family-rooted company that puts safety first and treats people well, and our drivers depend on a dispatch team that keeps loads organized and communicates clearly.
What You'll Do:
- Plan and assign daily loads and routes to get deliveries done safely, on time, and efficiently
- Keep in constant contact with drivers by phone, ELD, and messaging, and adjust plans as conditions change
- Track drivers' Hours of Service and keep every assignment within FMCSA limits
- Work with fuel terminals, site managers, and customers on delivery windows, product needs, and changes
- Watch customer inventory levels so sites don't run out
- Handle breakdowns, delays, weather, and incidents calmly and escalate them when needed
- Keep accurate dispatch records, bills of lading, and delivery documents
- Support the safety program and our culture of never rushing a driver past a safe decision
Qualifications:
- What We're Looking For 2+ years of dispatch experience, preferably in fuel, tanker, or hazmat transportation
- Working knowledge of FMCSA rules, especially Hours of Service
- Strong communication skills and the ability to stay steady under pressure
- Comfort with dispatch/TMS software, ELD platforms, and Microsoft OfficeGood organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, or on-call as the operation requires A CDL or past driving experience is a plus but not required
