About the role
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is hiring a Mate for the Marine Section to support the safe maneuvering, navigation, and operation of sludge vessels within the New York harbor system. The position includes piloting water quality vessels and maintaining logs and reports.
Qualified candidates will hold a US Coast Guard license as Third Mate or higher with Radar Observer endorsement, plus a TWIC card and related credentials. NYC residency is generally preferred for appointment.
