Overview: Material Handler
Pay: $21.45/hour | Multiple Openings | 1st & 2nd ShiftJob Summary
We are currently hiring Material Handlers to join our team. Material Handlers are responsible for safely and efficiently moving, positioning, staging, and handling materials throughout a structural steel manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a structural steel shop, steel fabrication environment, or with overhead cranes. Candidates should be comfortable working around large steel materials and using proper material-handling techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely move and position steel and other materials throughout the facility
  • Load, unload, stage, and organize materials according to production needs
  • Operate overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment as trained
  • Read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and material specifications
  • Properly secure and handle heavy/large materials
  • Assist production teams by ensuring materials are available and properly positioned
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Perform physical work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working around large steel components
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and production personnel
  • Skills and Experience
  • Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a structural steel shop or steel fabrication facility
  • Experience operating overhead cranes
  • Experience handling large steel beams, plates, tubing, or fabricated steel
  • Familiarity with steel-shop terminology and material-handling practices
  • Ability to safely work around cranes, steel, and other industrial equipment
Important: This position is not primarily a forklift or heavy-equipment operating position. Extensive forklift, warehouse, or heavy-equipment experience alone does not necessarily translate to the material-handling work required for this role. Preference will be given to candidates with structural steel and/or overhead crane experience.
Requirements:
  • Previous industrial/material-handling experience preferred
  • Structural steel or overhead crane experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work safely around heavy materials and industrial equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
