About the role

A Staff Architectural Designer at H2M architects + engineers works alongside a design team to solve problems, coordinate design details, and support the team effort in preparing architectural design drawings and specifications from schematic design to construction documents across a variety of projects. Our work environment includes a first-class office with the latest CAD, Revit, and BIM tools, on-site fieldwork, and the client’s project location. We offer this role at two levels: Staff Designer 1 and Staff Designer 2, recognizing growth in technical capabilities, autonomy, and responsibility as experience increases. H2M’s Architecture team balances form and function, creativity and practicality, and the natural and built environments to deliver thoughtful, responsive design solutions. Since establishing the practice in 1987, we have collaborated closely with clients to develop sustainable, attainable designs grounded in professional expertise and market‑specific experience. Through collaboration and best practices, we create architecture that meets the evolving needs of our clients and the communities they serve.
Key Responsibilities: Assist project teams and work on a variety of projects from design through construction administration. Generate and manage the development of architectural design and project drawings. Interface/coordinate architecture and engineering disciplines to develop and execute architectural design concepts. Function as a designer to the extent necessary to complete projects on schedule and within budget. Client interaction and teamwork with other disciplines. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution. Staff Designer 1: 0 to 2 years of design experience. Staff Designer 2: 2 to 4 years of design experience. Ability to independently define/detail architectural concepts and perform limited code review and program analysis. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Self-motivated and eager to learn.
Additional Requirements: This role requires some travel. Business-related travel may involve visits to project sites, client locations, and other H2M offices and may require the use of a personal vehicle. This is an exempt, salaried role that may occasionally require flexibility outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and select holidays, to support project schedules, client needs, and business priorities.
Compensation & Benefits: The salary range is between $68,000 to $80,000 annually.
