About the role
High-End Storage Administration Support Must have skills: Primary: PowerStore, Unity, Fiber Channel (Brocade directors/switches) Nice to have skills: Secondary skill: PowerScale, Data Domain, PowerVault Provide onsite US-citizen High-End Storage Administration support for 12 months focused on Dell storage and SAN infrastructure. Key tasks include: Architecture & Design: Review and document current PowerStore, Unity, and SAN/Brocade environment; recommend improvements for capacity, performance, and resiliency; assist with data tiering and protection strategy. Implementation & Configuration: Install, configure, and optimize PowerStore and Unity arrays (pools, LUNs/volumes, datastores, replication, snapshots); configure and manage Brocade directors/switches (zoning, fabric configuration, firmware); integrate storage with hosts and applications. Operations & Administration: Perform day-to-day storage and SAN administration, including provisioning, expansion, migrations, and LUN/host mappings; monitor capacity, performance, and health; maintain runbooks, SOPs, and environment documentation; execute storage-related changes under customer change control. Backup & Data Protection: Configure and manage Data Domain for backup and recovery; validate and periodically test restore procedures; align backup and retention policies with customer RPO/RTO and compliance requirements. File & Secondary Storage: Administer PowerScale for file/unstructured workloads (shares/exports, quotas, access, tuning); support PowerVault for secondary/archival/test workloads; plan and execute data migrations between platforms with minimal business impact. Performance & Troubleshooting: Analyze storage/SAN performance, identify bottlenecks, and remediate issues; troubleshoot incidents end-to-end (arrays, SAN fabric, hosts), engaging Dell Support and customer teams as needed; recommend and implement best-practice tuning and code/firmware updates. Governance & Security: Maintain secure zoning and LUN masking; implement role-based access and auditability for storage and SAN; support audit/compliance evidence requests related to storage and backup. Knowledge Transfer & Reporting: Provide ongoing knowledge transfer and mentoring to customer staff; maintain up-to-date diagrams and documentation; deliver regular status updates summarizing activities, issues, risks, and upcoming changes; contribute to continuous improvement of storage and backup operations.
