About the role
JOB OVERVIEW:
We have three openings available! Special Education Teacher: Elementary Inclusion Special Education Teacher: Alternative School (Middle School/High School Level) Special Education Teacher ABA Day Care The Special Education Teacher will create and maintain a superior academic environment by developing and implementing a classroom structure consistent with the needs of each student and the classroom in its entirety. Some responsibilities include developing and implementing lesson plans, meet and instruct classes, write and implement IEPs, initiate student evaluations and document progress, create an instructional environment for appropriate development of students, and collaborate effectively with related-services staff to address the students' needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement lesson plans and modify instruction to meet the individual needs of students Provide behavioral management Monitor, evaluate and report on students' progress Attend and participate in meetingsQUALIFICATIONSRequiredBachelor's degree and at least 3 months of related teaching experience (i.e. student teaching, internships, etc.)Valid state special education certificate Preferred experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsSTATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Maryland -Must have or be eligible for a conditional, standard professional or advanced certification with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) at time of appointment. Candidates with a conditional certification must obtain standard professional or advanced certification within two to four years of starting in teaching role, as determined by MSDE evaluation of the individual's credentials. Must maintain MSDE certification requirements throughout tenure in position. Current MSDE certification and/or experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder and emotional disabilities strongly preferred. Preferred

Physical Requirements:
- Must have visual and hearing acuity.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting
- Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
- AgeMust be 18 years or older
- LanguageMust be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
- Work Environment
- Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions
