Intern
About the role
- Design, develop, test, and maintain application code in TypeScript and React supporting the patient experience, the provider portal, and PriVii's public-facing website.
- Build and maintain the patient mobile app for iOS and Android using React Native or a similar cross-platform framework, including offline logging and push notifications.
- Translate product and clinical specifications into interfaces that behave correctly under real conditions, including loading, empty, partial, error, and offline states.
- Develop and maintain PriVii's design system: tokens, component library, responsive layouts, and accessibility foundations used across every surface.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend services, including authentication, session handling, data fetching, and error reporting.
- For full-stack candidates: build and maintain the backend APIs and data models behind these interfaces, including permissions and audit logging.
- Build interfaces for symptom and medication tracking, health dashboards, connected data sources, uploaded documents and scans, notifications, and privacy and consent flows.
- Implement interfaces that represent data provenance accurately, so that clinicians can distinguish patient-reported, device-measured, and chart-confirmed information at a glance.
- Develop modular components with well-defined interfaces, unit and integration testing, and Git-based collaborative development workflows.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues across the application, network, browser, and API boundaries.
- Support deployment processes, environment configuration, error monitoring, and uptime monitoring.
- Document technical decisions, component usage, and deployment procedures for other engineers.
- Participate in code review, raise technical concerns, and contribute to engineering decisions in the areas you work on.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript and React.
- Strong understanding of frontend fundamentals, including component architecture, state management, rendering behaviour, browser APIs, and debugging.
- Experience building interfaces that consume HTTP APIs, including handling failure, latency, and partial data.
- Experience using Git-based collaborative development workflows, including pull requests and code review.
- Demonstrated attention to how an interface behaves for its user, including keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen reader output.
- Ability to communicate progress and risks early, and to work independently across a defined area of the product. Preferred experience and skills
- Experience with React Native or Expo, including publishing to the App Store or Google Play.
- Experience building backend services in Node.js or similar, and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Next.js, including the App Router, server and client component boundaries, and production deployment.
- Experience building or maintaining a design system, component library, or design-token architecture.
- Practical accessibility experience, including WCAG conformance, assistive technology testing, or accessibility remediation.
- Experience with frontend testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, Testing Library, or Playwright.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first styling systems.
- Experience with deployment and infrastructure concepts such as containerized builds, environment configuration, preview deployments, or CDN and edge platforms.
- Experience building interfaces for healthcare, finance, or other domains where incorrect or ambiguous information carries real consequences.
- Experience with mobile-first and responsive design for interfaces used primarily on phones.
- Familiarity with frontend performance work, including bundle size, rendering cost, and perceived latency.
- Experience working from written specifications and contributing to technical documentation.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
