About the role
Overview
Blue Chip Talent , in partnership with an innovative automotive technology organization, is seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer . This role is responsible for designing modular mechanical test systems for vehicle electronics and developing hardware solutions that support testing across R&D to high-volume manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
Design modular and reusable mechanical fixtures for testing vehicle electronics
Develop mechanical interfaces including pogo-pin and bed-of-nails style probing
Define mechanical test requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Design rack-based systems to streamline complexity and replication at scale
Produce detailed documentation including BOMs, drawings, and SOPs
Oversee vendors during mechanical system manufacturing and integration
Support technicians during station build and commissioning
Ensure robust implementation of test system requirements
Qualifications
Required:
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
5–10 years of experience designing modular mechanical hardware for test systems
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks (strongly preferred), Inventor, AutoCAD, or ProE
Hands-on experience with electronics testing and probing technologies (e.g., VPC, Ingun)
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts
Experience with hardware integration in automated test environments
Background in automotive, semiconductor, or aerospace industries
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, CANFD, LIN, DoIP, Automotive Ethernet)
Experience deploying automated test equipment in manufacturing
Exposure to instrumentation such as power supplies, multiplexers, DMMs, signal analyzers, and generators
