About the role

The Nurse Practitioner in the correctional setting provideshealth care services to incarcerated individuals within the scope of theirlicense. The Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations, diagnostictesting, assessments/health screenings, prescribes medications, and educatesinmates on health prevention/promotion, medical conditions, and treatment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification and license in thestate of practice required
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationallyaccredited nursing organization (e.g. American Academy of Nurse Practitioners –AANP, American Nurses Credentialing Center – ANCC) is preferred
  • Specialty Certification as per client request and or stateregulations if applicable
  • One year experience as an NP preferred
  • One year of correctional experience preferred
  • Maintain collaboration agreements, per state requirements
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
  • Current CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
