The Department of Biochemistry and the Center for Plant Science Innovation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invite applications for a tenure-track nine-month (academic year) faculty position of open rank (assistant/associate/full professor). This appointment is apportioned as 80% research and 20% teaching. Applicants are sought who will develop a vigorous, internationally recognized research program that seeks to identify novel metabolic pathways, regulatory mechanisms and/or biological processes with the goal of translating findings into strategies for crop improvement and/or bio-based products that support sustainable agriculture and biotechnology to enhance human health. Researchers will be able to leverage UNL’s extensive research infrastructure that includes the Plant Transformation Core Research Facility (PTCRF), multi-location biotech fields, and advanced field and greenhouse phenotyping platforms, to validate and scale their discoveries. The Department of Biochemistry provides a robust environment for molecular research, offering access to state-of-the‑art resources through shared equipment and the Nebraska Center for Biotechnology. Candidates will have the opportunity to utilize the UNL Cryo-EM facility for structural biology, mass spectrometry for metabolomics and proteomics, and bioinformatics and systems biology computational resources. The university offers a highly collaborative environment to develop plant-focused research programs with affiliated resources provided by the University Research Centers (Center for Plant Science Innovation, Center for Integrated Biomolecular Communication, Redox Biology Center, Center for Virology), Holland Computing Center, the Quantitative Life Sciences Initiative, Nebraska Innovation Campus and the Center for Biological Chemistry and Complex Biosystems graduate training programs. The University Research Centers and UNL provide cutting‑edge research facilities that support multiple‑omics, bioinformatics, supercomputing, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, TEM, SEM, and metabolic engineering. A competitive start‑up package and appropriate laboratory and office space will be offered.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
