Chapter Leader
equal notesCresskill (NJ)
About the role
Equal Notes is looking for dedicated chapter leaders across the United States and internationally to help expand access to music education in their own communities. Chapter leaders will represent Equal Notes by organizing local music-related service projects, outreach events, instrument drives, benefit concerts, workshops, or mentorship programs for students who may not have equal access to music education. Chapter leaders should be responsible, motivated, and passionate about music, education, and community service. Ideal applicants are students who are strong communicators, able to work with schools or community organizations, and willing to lead a small team of volunteers. Prior leadership or music experience is helpful, but the most important qualities are commitment, creativity, reliability, and a genuine desire to use music to make a positive impact. Responsibilities may include recruiting volunteers, planning chapter activities, communicating with the Equal Notes leadership team, documenting events, and helping promote Equal Notes' mission. This is a great opportunity for students who want to gain leadership experience, build a service project in their community, and contribute to a growing nonprofit dedicated to making music education more equitable.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
