About the role
- The CDL Class A Driver (Pick-Up) is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to transport parcels on an established route.
- Hours and WagesMonday-Friday, 6:00PM start10-15 hours of overtime expected each week
- Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week$23.00-$27.00 per hour, based on experience$5.00 per hour shift differential
- Conduct a pre-trip inspection before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order
- Turn in pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms
- Drive to shippers and load trailer with freight
- Transfer freight back to the terminal to be unloaded
- Verify all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and company safety policies
- Wash the exterior of tractor and equipment daily
- Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pick up as needed
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
- Must possess good customer service and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
- Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
