Seamstress Tailor Sewist Alterations Specialist

Duties: Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairing garments with precision and care. Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to achieve high-quality finishes on diverse fabric materials. Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure crisp, professional presentation. Assist customers by understanding their tailoring needs, offering expert advice on garment fit and fabric care. Construct garments from scratch based on specifications, ensuring proper garment construction and stitching standards. Maintain a clean, organized workspace with well-functioning sewing equipment and pressing tools. Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

Requirements: Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail environment or similar setting. Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles. Proficiency in operating sewing machines, pressing machines, and press operation tools. Skilled in hand sewing for detailed repairs and finishing touches. Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production processes. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to clearly communicate alteration options and timelines. Basic math skills for measuring fabrics and calculating adjustments accurately.
