About the role
Job TitleJob Description You will support the overhaul and repair of U.S. Naval vessels through surface preparation and application of high performance preservation coating, for nuclear and non-nuclear naval vessels and equipment. You will enhance the structural integrity of the vessel, significantly reducing system failures or the need for ship repair and maintenance. You will use drawings, specifications, technical manuals, engineering standards, and manufacturers' instructions to identify the location and assemble blast equipment in dry-docks, piers and on vessels. You will ascertain type and method for surface preparation, considering variables such as current surface profile; surface profile requirements; intended coating application; cleanliness; tolerances; and metal loss. You will use hand or mechanical means, such as, scaling, sanding, scraping, chemical removal, and washing of metal, wood, and plastic surfaces for additional preparation to obtain required profiles. You will use deck blast machines to remove coatings and oxide from decks of ships. You will apply prior knowledge of materials for application on various surfaces including critical coated areas.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
