JW Michaels is representing several established investment firms seeking Industrials Equity Analysts for opportunities in New York. The mandates span different levels and team structures, from a junior analyst focused on Housing and related subsectors to mid- and senior-level analysts joining new team builds. Current coverage needs include Aerospace & Defense, Transports, Multis, Building Products, Housing/Homebuilding, Machinery, Construction Materials and Airlines. Candidates do not need experience across the entire Industrials universe. We will align each individual with the opportunity most relevant to their experience, subsector coverage and longer-term goals. Current Opportunities Mid/Senior Industrials AnalystsA growing investment platform is building a new three-person Industrials team and initially plans to hire one to two mid- or senior-level analysts. Aerospace & Defense is a significant priority, along with Transports, Multis, Building Products and other core Industrials subsectors. The team is seeking experienced fundamental investors who can take meaningful ownership of company coverage, generate differentiated ideas and work directly with the PM as the platform is built. The firm can consider candidates with non-competes extending into 2027, and some Stamford/New York flexibility may be available for Connecticut-based candidates. Housing Analyst An established investment firm is seeking an analyst focused primarily on Housing, with potential coverage across Building Products, Machinery and other housing-adjacent companies. The target profile is approximately one to two years of buy-side experience or three to four years of sell-side Equity Research experience. This is an opportunity for a strong junior analyst to take greater ownership of fundamental research and develop within a dedicated investment team. Timing is flexible, with the goal of having the individual in the seat by approximately mid-2027.Building Products / Airlines AnalystA fundamental equity team is seeking an analyst with approximately two to five years of buy-side experience. Relevant coverage may include Building Products, Homebuilding, Construction Materials, Airlines, Travel, Gaming, Lodging and Leisure. The role is based in New York and will work closely with colleagues in another U.S. office, with periodic travel expected. The analyst will have meaningful ownership of company coverage and work directly with the PM on idea generation, modeling and ongoing portfolio research. Long/short equity experience is preferred, although strong fundamental long-only investors may also be considered.
Responsibilities: Conduct deep fundamental research across relevant Industrials companies Build and maintain detailed financial and operating models Develop differentiated long and short investment ideas Analyze earnings, company filings, industry trends and competitive dynamics Evaluate key drivers including cycles, volumes, pricing, margins and capital deployment Conduct primary research, channel checks and expert calls Identify catalysts, risks and changes to consensus expectations Present conclusions directly to PMs and senior investors Monitor existing positions and changes to the investment thesis Take increasing ownership of company coverage and idea generation
Qualifications: Relevant buy-side or sell-side Equity Research experience Strong accounting, financial modeling and valuation skills Experience across one or more relevant Industrials subsectors Genuine interest in fundamental public-equity investing Ability to identify differentiated company and industry insights Intellectual curiosity and independent judgment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to operate effectively within a lean investment team
Location: New York City, with select Stamford/New York flexibility for Connecticut-based candidates Timing: Both immediate and longer-dated opportunities are available. Candidates with non-competes extending into 2027 are encouraged to apply.
