About the role
About ChronoSpaceAt ChronoSpace, we build AI that digitizes the physical world. Today's AI models only understand the world in 2 dimensions making them impractical for the physical world. We change that. We are building a new kind of AI for 4-dimensional (3D + time) digitization—the capture, reconstruction, compression, and distribution of digitized physical worlds—unlocking transformative capabilities in manufacturing, robotics, and entertainment.
The Role:
We are looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our Capture Systems team. Our highly portable multi-camera capture rig enables in-the-wild capture, allowing us to collect data where it happens, from factory floors to basketball courts. As we scale up data collection across a range of applications, we are beginning to create variations of the rig to better encompass the wide variety of settings in which we will be capturing. We will also be scaling up rig production to meet increasing demand. In order to support these efforts, we are looking to hire an engineer who will drive the rig's mechanical design, including camera housing design and mounting solutions across rig variations and deployment settings. They will also collaborate on a strategy for increased rig production. This role involves a high amount of collaboration with the electrical design of the system.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant hands‐on product development experience
- Proven track record of taking physical products from concept through scaled production with rapid prototyping methods
- Proficiency in MCAD (Fusion 360 or similar)
- Applied knowledge of manufacturing techniques (injection molding, 3D printing, CNC machining, etc.) and the ability to drive material and process selection based on cost, tolerance, and performance tradeoffs
- Demonstrated experience with DFM/DFA and working with manufacturers and suppliers for component acquisition
- Electronics fundamentals, such as soldering, reading wiring diagrams, and/or experience integrating SBCs or microcontrollers into finished products
- Experience working on hardware projects within cross‐functional teams preferred
- Role begins in October 2026.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
