Role Description:
The Medical Laboratory Technologist Generalist and MT role is a full-time, on-site position located in the San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area. The individual in this role performs a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses in support of diagnostic imaging and related medical services, including specimen processing, testing, and validation of results. Daily responsibilities include operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, adhering to established protocols, documenting and reporting accurate test results, and collaborating with clinical staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The technologist ensures strict compliance with quality control procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining clear communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The role may also involve assisting with inventory management, participation in inspections and audits, and ongoing process improvement initiatives within the laboratory setting.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in Medical Technology and Laboratory Skills, with the ability to perform routine and specialized testing accurately and efficiently. Knowledge of Laboratory Medicine and Medicine fundamentals, including understanding of diagnostic processes and clinical relevance of test results. Strong commitment to Quality Control, including adherence to standard operating procedures, calibration, and participation in quality assurance programs. Relevant professional certification (e.g., ASCP or equivalent) and completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology program. Experience working in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting, preferably in a generalist capacity handling multiple disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.).Ability to work on-site in the San Antonio, Texas Metropolitan Area, manage time effectively, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with laboratory information systems, electronic medical records, and basic computer skills for data entry and reporting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and support a culture of patient safety.
