About the role
- Implements and monitors individualized nutrition care plans as directed by the Registered Dietitian.
- Conducts nutrition screenings to identify patients at nutritional risk.
- Monitors patient tolerance with diets, nutritional intake, and clinical progress; reports changes to the dietitian.
- Educates patients, families, and caregivers on diet plans, special diets, and nutrition guidelines.
- Provides nutrition counseling for general health promotion and disease management within the scope of practice.
- Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
- Completes documentation in the medical record according to facility policies, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards.
- Supports compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, IDDSI, state health department).Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, and safety
- Collaboration and Training:
- Works closely with the Registered Dietitian, dietary staff, nursing, and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Assists in the development of and teaching department in-services.
- Participates in departmental meetings and continuing education to maintain credentials and professional growth.
