About the role
Freight, Stock, and Material Movers Manually receive, move freight, stock, or other materials and perform other general labor. • Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers, and responding to customer inquiries and complaints. • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment. • Sort cargo before loading and unloading. • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs. • Stack cargo in locations such as transit sheds or in holds of ships as directed, using pallets or cargo boards. • Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets. • Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected. • Wash out cargo containers or storage areas. • Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers. • Carry needed tools or supplies from storage or trucks and return them after use. • Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers' needs while following company procedures. • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task. • Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word. • Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety. • Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task. • Diversity Oriented - Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type. • Assertiveness - Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment or to defend a position or idea. • Initiative - Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal. • Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. • Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one's conduct.
