About the role
- Operate manual CMM machinery to perform in-process, first-article, and final dimensional inspections.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
- Collaborate with engineering to identify critical inspection dimensions
- Determine appropriate measuring instruments required based on drawings
- Accurately record inspection data including calibrated instruments used
- Document acceptance or rejection of material
- Collaborate with engineering and/or manufacturing to troubleshoot discrepancies
- Appropriately label and segregate materials that do not meet specification
- Assist with non-CMM related inspections as needed
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degrees in engineering or manufacturing disciplines are preferred.5+ years of precision inspection experience using CMMs in quality-controlled environment.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) to interpret complex engineering intents
- Ensure accurate measurements using GD&T principles.
- Experience with CMM software (CMM Manager preferred) and measurement hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)Knowledge of quality assurance principles related to dimensional inspection
- Knowledge of ANSI sampling standards
