Rehabilitation Technician Join our outpatient orthopedic and spine physical therapy team and play an important role in helping patients achieve their goals. Rehabilitation Technicians are valued members of the clinic team who support patient care, assist therapists, and help create an organized, welcoming environment for patients and families. Patient Care Support: Prepare treatment areas, exercise equipment, mobility devices and other equipment Support Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants with patient mobility and therapeutic interventions as requested Assist patients with mobility needs, including transfers and transportation between the clinic and parking structure. Help to create a welcoming and professional experience for patients and visitors Clinic Operations: Maintain a clean, safe and organized clinical environment Stock treatment areas and monitor clinic supplies Perform and document preventative maintenance and cleaning duties for patient care equipment Process patient care orders using the electronic medical record system Assist with patient check-in, check-out, scheduling and other administrative tasks as needed Teamwork & Leadership Collaborate closely with therapists, administrative staff and volunteers Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, organization and the patient experience Collaborate with supervisor on projects and tasks as directed Support a culture of teamwork, accountability and excellent service
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative
  • Schedule flexibility for opening and/or closing coverage
Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, and assist with patient mobility activities as needed throughout the workday.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) at University Hospital Outpatient Physical Therapy. Days worked will be Monday through Friday, hours to be determined. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
