Mechanical Engineer - Ultra-Low Temperature Systems

Location: Marietta, Ohio

Pay: $47.69/hour

Duration: 12-month contract Relocation: Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidateKYO Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support Thermo Fisher Scientific's Laboratory Equipment Division in Marietta, Ohio. This role will support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems used in ultra-low temperature freezers and laboratory cold-storage equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on mechanical design experience and a strong background in product development, testing, CAD, and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical systems and components for cold-storage and ultra-low temperature products Develop system, subsystem, and component performance specifications Create and execute engineering test plans Perform structural analysis and simulation using CAD/CAE tools Analyze test data and use results to improve product performance Support Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly initiatives Collaborate with refrigeration, electrical, controls, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and product teams Support verification and validation activities Maintain requirements traceability and engineering documentation Participate in continuous improvement and Lean/PPI initiatives Support regulatory and product compliance requirements, including UL, IEC, FDA, CE, CSA, and Energy Star Travel up to 10% as needed

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline 5+ years of hands-on mechanical systems development experience Experience with mechanical product design, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis Experience using CAD tools; Solid Works preferred Experience with structural modeling, simulation, or FEAExperience analyzing empirical test data Strong technical documentation and communication skills

Preferred Experience: Cold-storage, HVAC/R, refrigeration, or ultra-low temperature products Sheet metal, engineered plastics, and foam systems Data acquisition and automated testing Lean, PPI, or continuous improvement methodologies Military engineering and technical experience is encouraged to apply when equivalent to the listed requirements.
