About the role
- Build and debug progressive dies in accordance with engineering drawings, instructions, and manufacturing specifications.
- Troubleshoot die performance issues and apply corrective actions to ensure consistent and repeatable operation.
- Perform carbide grinding and precision fitting to maintain tight tolerances and tooling quality.
- Interface with engineering, department supervisors, quality control inspectors, and production teams to resolve technical issues and align priorities.
- Follow quality system regulations, International Organization for Standardization standards, and standard operating procedures throughout all tooling activities.
- Adhere to safety rules, manufacturing instructions, work rules, and other manufacturing guidelines.
- Meet production schedules while maintaining Applied Medical's standards for quality, safety, and documentation.

- Delivering reliable, high performing progressive dies that support stable production output.
- Resolving tooling issues efficiently through strong technical judgment and problem solving.
- Maintaining clear communication with engineering and production stakeholders throughout tooling builds and debug activities.
- Demonstrating craftsmanship and attention to detail in all tooling and grinding work.
- Supporting a safe, compliant, and collaborative manufacturing environment.
- Five or more years of experience in tool and die making or equivalent hands-on tooling experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in progressive die troubleshooting and carbide grinding techniques.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English for effective communication and documentation.
- Foundational computer skills for documentation, communication, and basic data entry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Preferred
- The following skills and attributes are preferred:
- Experience operating manual surface grinders and milling machines.
- Ownership and proficient use of personal precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators.
- Experience working with stainless steel and copper materials.
- Background in medical device manufacturing or other regulated production environments.
